It's been brewing for a while now, finally two great pieces of news in one day. Palm Pre3 (HP's WebOS) will be able to run Adobe Flash and the very cool looking TouchPad.

Santa's on his Way Hawaiian Applique
New product at the shop by Stacy Mitchell. Using the Accucut system these lovely and detailed blocks are easily stamped out of pre-fused fabric. This produces a positive and a negative, two blocks from one!

I love technology (or "I want one!")
Just cool. What can I say asides from I want one, seriously I'd love to work with one! Been wanting to see this for a couple of years now. Though with the right sized tablet I might not need an entire laptop. How about a tablet that I easily link to my phone?

New Purse Pattern
Working on designing a purse pattern for a friend. She's had this awesome little purse for at least a decade but it's starting to fall apart. So she's asked me to use it in the design of a replacement one with some alterations. Call me a geek but it's a fun challenge to draft a new pattern up. So far the prototype looks pretty good. A few problems trying to sew the purse so the inside was as nicely finished as the outside. Looks like I'll need to use bias binding strips to cover the overcast edges on the inside. Pics as I get a little further. If this is a workable purse pattern I'll see about offering it online for those interested.
Have a favorite old purse/handbag that you wish you could have new again? Let me know what makes it so handy, send pictures and some basic measurements. Renee's House of Quilting has dozens and dozens of purse patterns, I'm sure we can find something similar!

New Collections Up
Just got a batch of products up at http://www.reneeshouseofquilting.net/
Some very lovely pieces there. Free Spirit has some great pieces in the Heavenly Peace collection. I do love the 50/50 cool greys. Added a new asian collection and a new Moda collection as well. Not enough hours in the day to work with all those lovely fabrics!

2.5" Trapezoid Ruler for Jelly Roll strips
So here's the reason why I just had to buy a new machine. While visiting our friend Renee at Renee's House of Quilting I saw the new 2.5" Trapezoid ruler from Creative Grids. I was curious but it wasn't until the demo I knew I had to buy it. I've 3-4 jelly rolls at home that have been calling to me for a couple of years now.
That weekend I was home and started using the ruler. Demo's make such a difference! I felt comfortable chopping up my prized jelly rolls with this new tool. I'd decided to do a French Braid style quilt, maybe one I'd actually keep this time!
Not sure how well the picture will show it but the 3 main colors going from light to dark really blend nicely with the 50/50 grey Renee had at her shop. I decided to go with the strips centering around a center diamond block with ligh to dark alternating. All told there will be 6 major strips, possibly with more of the grey running in skinny tracks between. One strip is done, the others are nearly 2/3's done.
A few more days here and there sewing it and I should have it done. Of course, that might be spread out over the course of several months too!

Love my new Baby Lock Grace sewing machine
I recently bought myself a new sewing machine, call it a Christmas present to myself. I'd been using an older Baby Lock and an even older Sears Kenmore before that. Once I realized that my new quilting project was going too slow it was time to invest in some of the newer time saving features like 'needle down'. I could have spent more money but I'm quite happy with the Baby Lock Grace. I can't believe how much faster chain stitching a series of blocks went with the needle down feature. No more fiddling around with the knob to get just the right position!
